Thanks! How can i copy these files which play but dont copy . . I suspect modem or the ISP side at this point. My neighbor brought me a laptop that would not boot, I installed a new operating system onit and it was fine untill I started installing programs and got crc errors. It's a DVD authorizing program that lets you take most video formats (say a divx video you downloaded) and convert it to proper DVD format and burn a standard DVD. I'm backing up the main hard drive to an external HD. In many such occasions, by the time it gets to the burn stage, all you have is the largest episode, not all of them. If the DVD player can ignore the error, why not a backup program? I know Windows 7 handles quad core multi threading much better than XP but given XP's age that shouldn't be a surprise really.
